Olive’s Advice for a Cozy Home This Holiday Season

Hello friends! The holiday season is upon us, and one question you might be asking yourself is “how can I make my home as cozy as can be for my human and furry friends alike?” Well, that’s a question that’s perfect for me!

There's nothing better than coming home after a long day of work or shopping to a cozy home. But before you can curl up by the fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa, you need to make sure your home is ready for the winter months. Here are a few tips to get your home cozy for the holidays.

Schedule HVAC Maintenance

Believe me, I would much rather be playing fetch or going on a long walk in the brisk outdoor air, but scheduling your HVAC maintenance is an important step towards preparing your home for the cool winter months.

You don't want your family to be left in the cold if your furnace decides to give out in the middle of winter. A professional HVAC technician will be able to inspect your furnace and recommend some upgrades if necessary.

Set Out Cute and Cozy Blankets

There's nothing cozier than snuggling up under a blanket—take it from me. Gather some of your favorite blankets and put them on display so they're easy to grab when you need them. Leave a few on your couch or chairs so that your furry friends can get cozy, even when you’re not home. If you have any guests staying over during the holidays, make sure their bedrooms have plenty of extra blankets too!

Light a Festive Candle

Nothing says cozy like candles burning! Choose a few festive scents, like peppermint or gingerbread, and enjoy their warm glow as you relax in your home this holiday season. Just be sure to keep them out of paw’s reach and blow them out before you leave the room, go to bed or leave the house to avoid a fire!

Replace Your Air Filters

While you're thinking about your furnace, don't forget about your air filters! Dirty air filters can make it harder for your furnace to do its job, which means higher energy bills for you. Thankfully, replacing your air filters is an easy and inexpensive way to keep your furnace running smoothly all winter long. Just be sure to buy the right size air filter for your furnace so it can do its job properly.

If you have a pup at home, you’ll need to replace the filters more frequently! About every 30 to 60 days is what the experts at Russell & Abbott Heating and Air recommend.

With these simple tips, you can make your home paws-itively festive and comfortable for the holiday season! From scheduling HVAC maintenance to setting out cuddly blankets, there are plenty of ways to make your home extra cozy this winter. So light a festive candle, make a cup of cocoa, feed your pup a snowflake-shaped treat and enjoy all that the holiday season has to offer!

Stay cozy!
