Understanding HVAC Equipment Warranties

Onyx

I’ve written before about our Onyx Hardcore Comfort line and its fantastic 10-10-10 Warranty. Now you may have read that and thought, “But Olive, there are many other products that have 12-year warranties. Isn’t a 12-year warranty better than a 10-year warranty?” After all, that makes mathematical sense.

But there is much more to warranties than just 12 years vs. 10 years. That’s why we call our warranty a “10-10-10 Warranty.” You get plenty more with this, and it goes beyond simple “years of coverage.”

I’ll break down what you get with the 10-10-10 Warranty below.

The Details of the Onyx Hardcore Comfort Line 10-10-10 Warranty

Okay, this is me in brag mode, but think of having a warranty that offers you this …

  • 10 Years Unlimited Warranty on Parts to Original Owner
  • 10 Years Unlimited Warranty on Parts to Subsequent Owner
  • 10 Years Unlimited Warranty on Labor
  • 10 Years Warranty on Maintenance–Original Owner

That breaks down to 10 years for parts, 10 years for labor, and 10 years for warranty. (I know it looks like there are four “10s,” but those first two are sort of combined.)

And, yes, we do have a 12-year warranty in there. Again, brag mode, but it’s a biggie!

  • 12 Years Unlimited Warranty on the Compressor

By comparison, other “12-year warranties” offer a 12-year warranty on the compressor, but only limited warranties and fewer years for all parts and labor. Most people don’t even think about it, they just think it’s 12 years across the board.

It gets more complex, however. There are many differences in warranties from product to product and dealer to dealer. The Carrier warranty offers 10 years for parts to the original owner, but only 5 years for parts to the subsequent owner, and labor to the original owner varies by dealer. Daikin offers 12 years on parts to the original owner, but no warranty on parts to the subsequent owner and most of the other warranties vary by dealer. In fact, the warranty on maintenance almost always varies by dealer with other HVAC manufacturers. You may get 12 years, 10 years, 5 years, or maybe no warranty for maintenance at all.

I don’t want you stuck doing a bunch of homework, and that’s a lot of numbers. That’s why I’ve made it easy with just three numbers—and they’re all the same number! 10-10-10.

When you go with our dependable Onyx products and the 10-10-10 Warranty, you’re getting more guarantees for more years. You receive 10 years unlimited on all parts. It doesn’t matter what the part it is, the warranty covers it—and there are no exceptions. As for our warranty for maintenance: you own the maintenance on the warranty, so even if you move you can keep the unused portion of the maintenance for a new system within our service area.

If you’d like more information about our Onyx Hardcore Comfort line and its warranty, you only need to contact us! It’s still a good time to have new HVAC equipment installed before the hottest part of summer arrives.

Stay cool,

Olive
