I am so excited to share some news! My company has received an award which I consider to be just as good as the American Kennel Club’s honor, “Best in Breed:”
MK Russell & Abbott Heating and Cooling has been named 2015 Small Business of the Year by the Blount County Chamber of Commerce!
This honor is awarded each year to a business that demonstrates outstanding commitment to community support and involvement in Blount County.
I wasn’t able to attend the actual event, but I have seen my fair share of dog shows before, so I can only imagine the way the judges must have poured over all the fine details when making their decisions. They look carefully over all the entrants, checking on the neatness and cleanliness of the uniforms, the technicians’ poise with their heads held high because of their achievements, their obedience and speed whenever they’re needed (you whistle, they come running!)…
I know that my glossy coat and all-around adorableness was some help in winning this award, especially since customers see my face on the company vehicles around town, but there was one aspect that especially tipped the scales in our favor when the Chamber of Commerce made their choice: The impact of MKRA and its employees in supporting the community. For a company our size, we have a substantial impact on the good of the community: this year alone, we’ve contributed a substantial amount in a combination of services, direct contributions, and volunteer hours.
MK Russell & Abbott is involved in the support of programs at several churches, schools and civic organizations with causes ranging from the local economy to juvenile justice, homelessness, animal welfare, hunger, literacy, medical and mental health care.
